Recovery guide

PandaBuy is gone. Your spreadsheet mostly isn't.

A PandaBuy URL was never the product — it wrapped a numeric ID pointing at a live Taobao listing. That ID still resolves, and most of a dead sheet rebuilds from it.

TL;DR

PandaBuy was seized in April 2024 and WeGoBuy shut in 2025, which killed the default agent in thousands of community spreadsheets. The links are not worthless — the numeric product ID inside each one still points at a live Taobao or Weidian listing, and typically 80–90% of a dead sheet can be rebuilt against agents that are still trading.

Recoverable stock at current supplier prices

When a sheet dies, the listings usually do not — the agent's wrapper stops resolving while the seller's ID keeps working. This is the price band that survives that process, and it is why recovering a sheet is worth the twenty minutes. And anything you cannot recover, send us the photograph — we can usually source the same item from the factory directly.

Every row is a real listing and every photograph is the supplier's own, self-hosted rather than hotlinked. Column four is model-level fact — the year, the designer, the material or the sizing behaviour — not a category description. Where a name identifies no specific model, it says so with the measurement that actually transfers instead of inventing a story.

Anything above, at the factory rate. Send a screenshot, we quote it, you pay, it ships — single units at wholesale, better on volume, 6–12 days to most of Europe and the Americas.

What happened

PandaBuy was, for several years, the default agent in this hobby. Spreadsheets were written around it, Reddit threads linked to it, Discord servers had channels of nothing else. In April 2024 it was seized by authorities and it has not reopened. WeGoBuy, the other name that appeared in older sheets, shut in 2025.

The consequence is a large body of community documentation pointing at checkouts that no longer resolve. People assume the finds are gone with the agents. Mostly they are not.

Why the links are still useful

A PandaBuy URL was never the product. It was a wrapper around a numeric ID belonging to a listing on Taobao, Weidian or 1688 — and that listing usually still exists, run by the same seller, at roughly the same price.

Recovering it is mechanical. Extract the ID and source platform from the dead URL, then rebuild it in the format a trading agent expects. The converter does both steps, and it accepts dead agent links as input specifically for this.

Realistic expectation: most of a dead spreadsheet comes back. What does not is anything the original seller has since delisted, which is a real fraction on fashion items and small on staples. No tool can fix a delisted listing — the seller removed it, and the ID no longer resolves anywhere.

Doing it

One link

Paste the dead URL into the converter. It reads the ID out of the PandaBuy or WeGoBuy format and returns working links for 40 agents. Pick one and check the listing loads with a sensible price.

A whole spreadsheet

Work through it in passes rather than link by link. Sort by category and start with staples — basics and standard colourways survive best, because sellers keep them listed for years. Seasonal and hyped items have the highest delist rate, so leave those for last and accept losses there.

Verify as you go. A rebuilt link that loads a page with a plausible price is recovered. One that loads an error, or a listing at a wildly different price, means the seller changed something and the entry needs replacing rather than converting.

When the ID itself is dead

If the listing is genuinely gone, you are looking for the same item from a different seller rather than repairing a link. Two routes: search Taobao with the Chinese product name — copy it from any surviving listing of the same item — or check the supplier catalogues, where 30 albums cover most categories and the specialist ones carry archive colourways the general albums drop.

Reading a dead link's format

Old links come in a few recognisable shapes, and knowing which you have tells you what to expect.

Common formats in older spreadsheets and what can be recovered from each.
ShapeWhere the ID isRecoverable
PandaBuy wrapped URLPercent-encoded original URL in a parameterYes — platform and ID both survive
WeGoBuy wrapped URLSame patternYes
Bare Taobao or Weidian linkDirectly in id= or itemID=Yes, and nothing was ever broken
Shortened m.tb.cn linkBehind a redirectOnly by opening it — browsers cannot follow these programmatically
Screenshot with no linkNowhereNo. Search by image or product name instead

Shortened links are the tedious case. Nothing running in a browser tab can expand them, because the redirect is blocked by cross-origin rules. Open each one, let the real page load, then copy the address from the bar. There is no way around it and no tool that does it for you.

Which agent to rebuild against

Any of them still trading, and the choice has consequences worth a minute's thought. MuleBuy and Joyagoo hold the highest verified Trustpilot scores at 4.7 and 4.6, both on samples in the thousands. KakoBuy and Sugargoo give you the longest free storage at 100 days, which matters if you are rebuilding a large sheet and intend to buy across several weeks.

Whichever you pick, check it is current before you commit four hundred rows to it — the agent comparison carries a dated status column for exactly that reason, and rebuilding a dead sheet onto an agent that is itself about to go is how you end up doing this exercise twice. The short version is that six of eight charge nothing on the order, so pick on rating, storage window and whether the service is unchanged — not on fees.

What the closures changed about how people share finds

The visible consequence of April 2024 was a lot of broken links. The less visible one was a shift in how the community stores finds at all, and it is still working through.

Sheets written before the seizure almost universally stored a single agent link per row, because there was a default agent and no reason to imagine it disappearing. Sheets written since increasingly store the raw Taobao or Weidian URL, or the bare numeric ID with a platform column beside it, and leave the agent choice to whoever is reading. That is strictly better and it took an agent being seized for it to become normal.

It also changed what a "good" spreadsheet looks like. The ones that hold value now are those carrying a screenshot alongside each entry, because an image survives a delisting in a way a link does not — when the listing goes, the picture is what lets you find the same item from another seller. Sheets that are nothing but a column of agent URLs are one closure away from being worthless again.

Keeping the rebuilt sheet from dying again

The mistake that created this problem was storing agent links instead of source links. Do it the other way round.

  • Store the source URL — the Taobao, Weidian or 1688 address. It survives any agent closing.
  • Store the numeric ID in its own column. If a URL format changes, the ID still rebuilds.
  • Note the platform alongside it. Taobao, Weidian and 1688 IDs look alike and are not interchangeable.
  • Keep a screenshot. When a listing is delisted, an image is what lets you find it elsewhere.
  • Generate agent links on demand rather than storing them. That is a five-second operation and it means the next closure costs you nothing.

A sheet built that way would have survived both PandaBuy and WeGoBuy without a single edit.

Questions worth answering here

Can a dead PandaBuy link be recovered, or is the item gone?

The checkout does not — PandaBuy was seized in April 2024 and has not reopened. The numeric product ID inside the link is still valid, because a PandaBuy URL only ever wrapped a Taobao, Weidian or 1688 listing. Paste the dead URL into the converter and it rebuilds a working checkout for 40 trading agents. Typically 80–90% of an old sheet comes back this way.

How much of a dead spreadsheet can I recover?

Typically 80–90%. What is lost is anything the original seller has delisted since April 2024, which hits seasonal and hyped items hardest and staples barely at all. Work in passes rather than link by link: sort by category, rebuild basics and standard colourways first, then verify each new link loads a listing at a plausible price. Anything genuinely delisted needs replacing, not converting.

Is WeGoBuy still operating?

No, WeGoBuy shut in 2025, a year after PandaBuy was seized in April 2024. Its links recover the same way, since both formats wrapped the original marketplace URL with the numeric ID percent-encoded inside a parameter. Rebuild against an agent you have checked is current: MuleBuy rates 4.7 on Trustpilot and Joyagoo 4.6, both on samples of nearly 3,000 reviews.

How do I convert dead links in bulk?

Work in passes rather than link by link. Sort the sheet by category and do staples first, since basics and standard colourways stay listed for years, then leave seasonal and hyped rows to last and accept losses there. Verify as you go: a rebuilt link that loads a plausible price is recovered. The converter covers 40 agents across 13 distinct URL format families.

What if the product listing itself is gone?

Then no converter helps, because the ID no longer resolves anywhere. Search Taobao using the Chinese product name copied from a surviving listing of the same item, or work through the 30 supplier catalogues in 9 categories — the specialist albums carry archive colourways the general ones drop. Our index covers 11,349 products and 96,360 photographs, so start there when hunting a replacement seller.
