Its URL family, briefly
KakoBuy uses wrapped URL — /item/details?url= with the source address encoded. That is one of thirteen distinct URL families across the forty agents in the converter above, and the reason a spreadsheet built for one agent does not open in another without help.
Declaring the interest first
KakoBuy pays this site a referral commission. It is the only agent in our comparison that currently does. We are about to argue that its worst-looking number is less damning than it appears, so you should know that before you read the argument rather than after.
The argument stands on its own or it does not: 74 reviews is a small sample by any statistical standard, and we would make the same point about any agent with a 74-review score in either direction. The disclosure page has the full position, including the fact that KakoBuy is not top of any list on this site.
What 74 reviews can and cannot establish
Compare the extremes on our table. CNFans: 4.2 across 13,300 reviews. KakoBuy: 2.5 across 74. The gap in sample size is a factor of 180.
At 13,300 the score is a stable property of the service. At 74, a dozen bad experiences in one difficult month would move the number by more than a point. That does not make the 2.5 wrong — it makes it uninformative, which is a different and more frustrating thing. The honest reading is that we do not know, and neither does anyone quoting the figure at you.
The 100-day window, which is a real advantage
KakoBuy publishes 100 days of free storage, the longest on our table alongside Sugargoo, against 90 for most of the field and 60 for CNFans.
For anyone building a haul slowly this is the single most consequential number on the page, and it is easy to underweight because it sounds administrative. Forty extra days over CNFans is the difference between shipping when the box is full and shipping when the clock runs out — and shipping early means paying the first-weight charge twice, which on most routes costs more than any fee difference between agents.
How to use this without getting burned
Given we are paid on this one, here is the most sceptical version of the advice we can honestly give.
Do not take our word about the 74 reviews. Order a single low-value item, and specifically watch the two things a thin sample cannot tell you: how the fee is presented at checkout, since KakoBuy publishes no rate card, and how the exchange rate compares to mid-market on the day you pay. If either looks wrong, you have lost the price of one t-shirt finding out.
The 100-day storage window is the genuine reason to consider it, and it only pays off if your haul actually takes months to fill. If you ship within a fortnight, that advantage is worth nothing and you should pick on rating instead.
